Whether it’s Steam, Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, most gaming services let you see what your friends are playing. The discord also allows you to do this on the PC, but the functionality of the Android application was not present.
Now, XDA-Developers has observed a “Game Detection Service” in the Android Discord application. The function simply allows the application to detect the Android game you are playing and then gives you the option to display the game as a status message.
To activate the Game Detection Service, you must visit User Settings> Games. Then, you should simply enable the two options that are in this menu, and that’s it. The function also requires the use access permission to function properly.
Once it is up and running, its status should be automatically updated with the name of the Android game that is currently playing. It’s a pretty good feature for Android since, with the exception of Google Play Games, we really do not have anything similar on the platform.
The function is only available in version 7.9.9 at this time, but the stable version of Play Store is version 7.9.5. XDA believes that you can sign up for the beta program to get access to 7.9.9, although I’m still seeing the previous version. The other alternative is to download the update of the likes of .
